The research purpose is to reveal the general picture of the business’ circular economy in a developing economy and its contribution to sustainable development goals. In addition, determining the businesses’ sustainability performances is another study’s purpose. The content analysis method has been used to realize the research purpose and answer the questions. Since sustainability reports are the essential tool for measuring corporate sustainability, a report review was preferred to reveal the business’s practices and performances. 280 service and manufacturing businesses traded on the stock exchange were determined as a sample. However, 25 of these businesses that have undergone independent audits and published sustainability reports with international standards were included in the analysis. The critical findings were obtained in the analysis based on content analysis. Primarily, most companies do not publish sustainability reports. Service and manufacturing businesses have weighed different sustainability dimensions in their activities. ‘Decent work and economic growth, and responsible consumption and production’ of the Sustainable Development Goals have found the highest place in all businesses. In contrast, the goal of ‘no poverty’ has been found at a very low level in business. Most companies have partially integrated their activities into the circular economy. Since the business’s performance is decisive in achieving the SDGs and emission net zero targets, the study has helpful outputs for the literature and decision-makers. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2023.
