Öğe Effect of moral sensitivity on professional values of undergraduate nursing students: Mediating effect of empathic tendency(W B Saunders Co-Elsevier Inc, 2023) Turkmen, Emine; Vaizoglu, Dogancan; Yesilyurt, Tugba; Uysal, NurcanBackground: The development of professional values in nursing students is an important issue for the nursing profession. However, the research on nursing students' professional values and its related factors is very limited. Purpose: This cross-sectional and correlational study aimed to examine the mediating effect of empathy between moral sensitivity and professional values. Methods: This study was conducted with 328 second, third and fourth-year students. The participants completed an online survey consisting of the student information form, Modified Moral Sensitivity Questionnaire for Student Nurses, Empathic Tendency Scale and Nursing Professional Values Scale. Results: The results showed that moral sensitivity affected undergraduate nursing students' professional values not only directly but also indirectly through empathic tendency. Conclusions: The results of the study show that moral sensitivity and empathic tendency support the acquisition of professional values in undergraduate nursing students. Nurse educators needs to realize that can be improved professional values by integrating moral sensitivity and empathic tendency in their curriculum.Öğe The Effect of Video Call with Family Members on Physiological Parameters of Critically Ill Patients in Intensive Care Unit: A Quasi-experimental Study(Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers Pvt Ltd, 2023) Uysal, Nurcan; Vaizoglu, DogancanAim and background: There are not enough studies on the direct effect of virtual patient visits on patients' vital signs in intensive care. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of video calls made between conscious patients and their families on the patient's vital signs and to determine the level of satisfaction.Materials and methods: The research was carried out quasi-experimentally. Study data were collected from 135 patients and their relatives. The data were collected from the vital signs monitoring form and the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS). Satisfaction with the video call was measured with a score scale between 0 and 5. Video calls were conducted by an intensive care unit (ICU) nurse every day between 13:00 and 15:00 for 5 days. Physiological parameters were measured 30 minutes before, during, and 30 minutes after the video calls.Results: The mean patient pulse rate (PR) value was 92.04 +/- 12.87, respiratory rate (RR) value was 22.89 +/- 3.63, and GCS total score was 14.01 +/- 0.12 during the call. There was a statistically significant difference between these values measured during the video calls and the values measured before and after the interview (p < 0.00). The mean score of patient satisfaction with the video call was 4.80 +/- 0.44; for relatives, the mean score was 4.87 +/- 0.33.Conclusion: This study revealed that video calls with family members affected PR, RR, and GCS of patients hospitalized in ICU.Clinical significance: Video calls can be implemented in all ICUs where visits are restricted. This practice is well recognized by both families and patients.Öğe The effects of mindfulness-based stress reduction on mindfulness and stress levels of nursing students during first clinical experience(Wiley, 2022) Uysal, Nurcan; Çalışkan, Behice BelkısPurpose:The purpose of the study was to examine the effects of mindfulness?basedstress reduction (MBSR) on stress levels and mindfulness of nursing students.Methods:The study was quasi?experimental and included pretest?posttest controlgroups.Results:No differences were detected between the pretest scores of the scales ofthe students of both groups. Students in the intervention group demonstratedincreased mindfulness and decreased stress levels (p< 0.05).Practical Implications:MBSR applied in the present study effectively reduced thestress of nursing students and increased their mindfulness.Öğe Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin Covid-19 pandemi sürecinde uzaktan eğitime yönelik tutumları(DergiPark, 2022) Uysal, Nurcan; Aydın, Bahise; Ekici, EmineBu çalışmanın amacı, hemşirelik öğrencilerinin COVID-19 pandemisi sürecinde uzaktan eğitime yönelik tutum ve görüşlerini belirlemektir. Tanımlayıcı olarak planlanan bu çalışma bir vakıf üniversitesinin hemşirelik bölümünde öğrenim gören toplam 340 öğrenci (%82,0) ile yapılmıştır. Veriler, internet ortamında uygulanan anket formu ile 8-19 Temmuz 2020 tarihleri arasında toplanmıştır. Verilerin toplanmasında araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan 12 sorudan oluşan “Sosyo-demografik Soru Formu” ve “Uzaktan Eğitim Tutum Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin %91,8’inin evde interneti olduğu ve %59,4’ünün bağlantı sorunu yaşadığı belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin ölçekten aldıkları toplam puan ortalaması 56,91±15,63, avantajlar alt boyut puan ortalaması 40,23±11,06 ve sınırlılıklar alt boyut puan ortalaması 16,68±5,66’dır. Çalışmaya katılan öğrencilerin %44,1’i derslerin teorik bölümü için uzaktan eğitim yöntemlerini yeterli bulurken, %86,8’i laboratuvar uygulamaları için ve %79,1’i klinik uygulamalar için uzaktan eğitim yöntemlerini yetersiz olarak değerlendirmiştir. Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin uzaktan eğitime yönelik tutumları orta düzeyde olup klinik ve laboratuvar uygulamaları açısından uzaktan eğitimi yeterli görmedikleri, bu nedenle psikomotor becerilerin yüz yüze öğretilmesi önerilmektedir.Öğe Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin doğrudan bakım uygulamalarına ayırdıkları süre ve bakım davranışları algısının belirlenmesi(DergiPark, 2021) Uysal, Nurcan; Tekin, Yasemin Eda; Değirmenci Öz, Seda; Çalışkan, Behice Belkıs; Yıldız, Güldem; Kömürcü, NuranAmaç: Araştırma, hemşirelik öğrencilerinin klinik uygulamalar sırasında doğrudan bakım uygulamalarına ayırdıkları zamanı ve öğrencilerin bakım davranışları algısını belirlemek amacıyla planlanmıştır. Yöntem: Araştırma tanımlayıcı tipte olup araştırmanın örneklemini bir vakıf üniversitesinin hemşirelik bölümünde öğrenim gören birinci sınıflar hariç toplam 80 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Çalışmanın verileri “Klinik Uygulamada Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin Aktivitelerini İzlem Formu” ve “Bakım Davranışları Ölçeği” ile toplanmıştır. Veriler gözlem yoluyla elde edilmiştir. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin klinikte bir uygulama gününde doğrudan bakım uygulamalarına harcadıkları süre; ikinci sınıflarda 138,8±57,0 dakika, üçüncü sınıflarda 105,6,7±40,3 dakika, dördüncü sınıflarda 99,8±60,1 dakika olarak belirlenmiştir, Bakım uygulamaları dışındaki faaliyetlere ikinci sınıfların 50,2±40,3, üçüncü sınıfların 6,1±15,6, dördüncü sınıfların 38,4±43,3 dakika harcadıkları belirlenmiştir. Sınıflara göre öğrencilerin doğrudan bakım ve diğer faaliyetlere harcadıkları süreler arasında istatistiksel olarak fark bulunmuştur (p<0,05). Öğrencilerinin Bakım Davranışları Ölçeği-24’ten aldıkları toplam puan ortalaması 5,14±0,59 puan olarak belirlenmiş, mesleği isteyerek seçen öğrencilerin puanları diğerlerine göre yüksek bulunmuştur. (p<0,05). Öğrencilerin bakım davranışları algıları olumlu olmasına rağmen, doğrudan bakım uygulamalarına ayırdıkları sürenin az olduğu belirlenmiştir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışma, bir vakıf üniversitesinde öğrenim gören 100 rehberlik ve psikolojik danışmanlık bölümü öğrencisine, hemşirelik bölümü öğrencileri tarafından akran eğitimi verilerek yüz yüze gerçekleştirilmiştir. Eğitim öncesinde, human papilloma virüsü (HPV) ve cinsel yolla bulaşan hastalıklar konusunda bilgi formu ve Hendrick Cinsel Tutum Ölçeği (HCTÖ) Kısa Formu eğitim sonrasında ise eğitimin değerlendirilmesine yönelik bilgi formu uygulanmıştır. Verilerin analizi, yüzde, ki kare, Mann Whitney U Testi ve Kruskal Wallis Testi ile yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Çalışmaya katılanların çoğu kadın (%61), 21-24 yaş aralığında (%66) olduğu, %68’inin HPV hakkında bilgi sahibi olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin HCTÖ’den aldıkları alt boyut puan ortalamaları incelendiğinde, en düşük doğum kontrolü alt boyutundan (3.15 ± .97), en yüksek ise paylaşım alt boyutundan (3.83 ± .89) puan aldıkları saptanmıştır. Sonuç: Öğrencilerin çoğunun cinsellikle ilgili eğitim almadığı ve HPV hakkında yeterli bilgiye sahip olmadıkları görülmüştür. Purpose: This descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted to determine the nursing image perceived by the society during the Covid-19 pandemic. Methods: The research population consisted of 663 people who were not in the nursing profession in Turkey. The data were collected with a sociodemographic data form that was prepared by the researchers and a questionnaire that contained questions on the image of nursing. The McNemar Test was used for statistical analysis. Results: Individuals have positive views towards the nursing profession compared to the prepandemic period. Nursing is accepted as a profession that is well known (82.8%), respected (69.8%) and difficult working conditions (88.2%) by individuals in the society (p <.05). However, nursing profession is still perceived as “doctors' assistant” (71.5%). Conclusion: Although nurses are more visible during the pandemic period and there are positive changes in public perception of the nursing profession, some unfortunate traditional perceptions persist.Öğe Nursing Principles Practice Basic Competencies Scale – Turkish Adaptation Study(Marmara Üniversitesi, 31.10.2024) Uysal, Nurcan; Türkmen, Emine; Orak, Nuray Şahin; Demirdağ, HaticeObjective: The main objectives of clinical education in nursing education are to develop the student’s competences in cognitive, affective and psychomotor areas. Reliable measurement tools are needed for the evaluation of these competences that begin to be gained with the first clinical practice. This methodological study investigated the cultural and Turkish validity of the Core Competence in Basic Nursing Practice Scale (CCFNPS) for undergraduate nursing students. Methods: A methodological research has been carried out on the cultural validation and adaptation of the scale. The construct’s validity was examined using both exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis in a sample of 466 students. The scale’s internal consistency reliability was evaluated using Cronbach’s alpha. Test-retest reliability was assessed using a dependent sample t-test and intraclass correlation with a sample of 30 students. Results: The scale’s content validity index was 0.98. The results of exploratory factor analysis revealed a five-factor structure similar to the original scale, the variance explained was 69.62%, but four items were removed from the scale due to low factor loading. Confirmatory factor analysis results (fit indices values) applied to the twenty – one items and five sub-dimensional structure were found to be acceptable. Scale Cronbach’s alpha values were above 0.70.
